Timing is Everything- Be Proactive Not Reactive with Your A/C and Furnace This Spring.

But sometimes having a slice of that knowledge can help you make better decisions when it comes to your HVAC projects. The following bullet points are reasons we feel you should have Gross Heating out to your home for a maintenance clean and check or get a FREE estimate on how much it would cost to replace your furnace or A/C unit.
HVAC Price Increases
Waiting to replace a system that’s on its last legs isn’t always the best idea. HVAC equipment isn’t getting any cheaper, and in fact we’re watching it trend upwards, along with so many other things right now. The good news is, the technology is better, so your energy bills will be lower. But the technical expertise required to manufacture and install the equipment is higher than ever, plus backlogs in ordering parts and getting on the schedule for installation during our busy seasons (which are typically the beginning of summer and the beginning of winter).
Planning ahead and being proactive with your HVAC system helps both you and us weigh all of the options for your home and your family’s needs, when we have time to discuss different avenues, instead of having to make a quick decision because the system has failed completely.
Keeping up with the latest technology
Every year as technology improves, electrical work becomes more sophisticated, metalworking techniques must become more refined, plumbing and ventilation systems must be catered to the specific equipment, and this all affects the bottom line. Sometimes material costs will also change due to factors outside of the control of even the manufacturers.
Additionally, new regulations are coming in 2023. There will be a new federal mandate going into effect January 1st 2023 that will take air conditioners from a 13seer rating to a 14seer rating. SEER is the industry standard that tells us how efficient the a/c is. The higher the SEER, the more efficient it is. Now would be the time to talk about what is best for you.
The good news is, the level of comfort and control you’ll have over a new system is also higher than ever. We’ve come a long way in just the last couple of decades. In terms of planning for your budget, you can expect to see an increase of about 1-2% to keep up with inflation, but also budget for 10-15% increases for the changing costs of materials. Also take into consideration the time it takes to order and install parts, which have all been affected lately.
Is the investment worth it?
We often ask homeowners how long they plan to be in their home. Oftentimes, replacing an HVAC system makes a lot of sense if you plan to be in your home for another 5-10 years, not only in terms of your budget but the cost savings of your utility bills over time by installing a better, more efficient system.
There’s also something to be said for comfort. Knowing you have a system that works for your specific home, and your family, brings peace of mind- especially in a fluctuating climate like ours. While your budget should be considered, naturally, you should also consider your savings over time and factor that into the decision to upgrade your system. As a part of the country that experiences all 4 seasons, HVAC should be top of your priority for your home.
Timing is everything
The HVAC industry is usually inundated with calls during two specific times of the year- right after it gets very cold, and right after it gets very hot. You can imagine the reason for this. Out of sight, out of mind is the old saying. You don’t know there’s a problem until you fire up your system each winter, or turn on that air conditioner as the summer heat waves roll in.
Being proactive about maintenance, repairs and replacements is the best way to avoid these emergencies. But sometimes, it can’t be avoided. We do recommend regular maintenance for this reason. By scheduling ahead of these busy times of the year, you can avoid the headaches and wait time to have your system serviced. If you’re reading this now, and thinking it might be time to give us a call, we’re standing by- and spring is the perfect time to be proactive. Don’t wait for something to happen- let us at Gross Heating help you make it happen, whether it’s as simple as a clean and check of your equipment, or helping you plan for your future needs.
