Boiler Up! How Boilers Score Big with Homeowners

by | Aug 24, 2016

HVAC salesperson discussing boilers with homeowners

While initial boiler costs and installation are, on average, more expensive than that of a furnace, a boiler pays for itself with energy savings in the first few years, and monthly operating costs are much lower. Boilers are very energy efficient and, because they don’t use air to deliver heat, greatly reduce the circulation of dust particles and other pollutants in a home for better air quality. Boilers often last longer than furnaces and require very little maintenance. Boilers also come in a variety of sizes to accommodate all spaces from average to large.

More benefits of boilers

The type and size of your boiler will depend on many factors including the size of your home and the type of fuel you use. No matter what type you choose, you’ll come out ahead because of the benefits over other heating systems. Gas boilers, for example, are extremely efficient but emit carbon dioxide which electric boilers do not. The cost of electricity makes all-electric boilers an extravagant choice.

Oil boilers are more efficient than electric boilers, but oil prices can fluctuate wildly. While you’ll have to weigh the pros and cons of different types of boilers, here are more of the benefits you’ll enjoy with all:

  • Comfortable, even heat
  • Compact, durable, and easier to install than other heating systems
  • No ductwork needed
  • No filters to replace
  • Quieter operation
  • Easy zone heating
  • Great for the planet
  • Up to 90 percent efficiency
  • Fit any energy source (natural gas, propane, electricity, heating oil, biodiesel blends)
  • Few moving/mechanical parts mean fewer, less expensive repairs
